A matter is a unit of work with an owner, a status and a deadline: a will to prepare, a purchase to complete, a client request to answer. Matters give the office one list of everything it has to deliver, and give the agent a place to work from. Matters are part of Casa Conect OS. If you cannot see Matters in the sidebar, your organization may not have the feature enabled. See Plans and billing.

What a matter contains

A code and a title

Each matter gets a short code built from the initials of your organization’s name and a running number, such as NLH-12 for Notaría López Hermanos. If the organization is renamed, every code follows.

A description document

The description is a full editor document, not a text box. It can hold headings, checklists and tracked changes, and a template can structure it for you.

Properties

Status, priority, assignee, requested date, due date, labels and project.

Relations and correspondence

Linked documents, linked email conversations, and the Shared Spaces the matter is shared in.

Status and priority

Priority is one of No priority, Low, Medium, High or Urgent.

Create a matter

Matters arrive in two ways.
Open Matters and start a new matter. Give it a title and, if you like, a description. You can assign it to the agent straight away; see Working with the agent.

Find your way around the list

The list has three tabs: All matters, Needs attention and Assigned to me. Use Filter to narrow the list by status, priority, assignee, label or project, and the search box to find a matter by its text. When you find yourself applying the same filters again, save them as a view. Views can be renamed and deleted from View options.

Projects and who can see a matter

A matter can belong to a project or sit at organization level.
  • A matter in a project is visible to the people who can see that project.
  • To assign a matter to a person, it must be in a project. The list tells you so: “Add this matter to a project to assign a person.”
  • Moving a matter between projects, or out to organization level, is limited to organization admins, the person who created the matter, and its assignee.
Conversations from a private project stay private even when they are linked to a matter. People who cannot see them are told how many are hidden, for example “2 linked conversations you cannot see”, but never see their contents.
Open Relations on a matter to link what belongs to it: Each linked document shows where it lives: Project, Organization or Private. If a matter references a document in a colleague’s personal vault, or one you do not have access to, you see that it exists but cannot open it. A matter can also be shared into a Shared Space under Shared in, so the people in that space can follow it.

Delete a matter

Deleting a matter removes the matter, its description and its agent threads. Linked conversations and files are kept.
