# The web and public sources

> How the agent uses web search and cloud browser sessions to consult public information, and how to treat what it finds.

Much of what property and notarial work relies on is public: legislation, official gazettes, land and company registers, cadastral maps, municipal portals. The agent can consult these in two ways.

## Web search

For **public facts** the agent runs a web search and reads the top results. It is fast and costs almost nothing, and the agent decides when it is needed. In the conversation you see *"Searched the web"* with the query it used.

* Only the **search query** leaves Casa Conect. Your documents are never sent to the search service.
* The agent writes the query itself. If your request contains a client's name, the query may contain it too. Phrase requests accordingly when that matters.
* If the search service is unavailable, the agent carries on without results rather than failing, and tells you.

## Browser sessions

For websites that must be **used**, such as a search form, a map viewer or a portal behind a login, the agent opens a [browser session](/agent/browser-sessions): a real browser in the cloud that you can watch live, and that hands control to you when a sign-in is needed.

Browser sessions are available only when you are present in the conversation. They are never available to work started by email.

## Useful public sources in Spain

The agent has no special connection to these. It reaches them as you would, through search or a browser. They are the sources it will most often find useful.

  **Verify legal information.** The agent can find and summarize a provision, but it can also pick up a version that has been superseded, a commentary in place of the text, or a rule from the wrong region. Ask it to **cite the official source**, open the link, and check the consolidated text and its effective date yourself. The agent's summary of the law is a starting point for your analysis. It does not replace it.

## Getting good results

* **Name the source**: *"Check the consolidated text on the BOE, not a commentary."*
* **Name the jurisdiction**: *"…as it applies in the Balearic Islands."*
* **Ask for the link and the date** of the version it read.
* **Ask it to quote** the provision, not to paraphrase it.
* **Save what matters.** Ask the agent to file the page or the PDF in the project vault, so that the source you relied on is on record.

## Web content is untrusted

A web page is outside content, like an email from a stranger. The agent reads it as **information, never as instructions**, and driving a browser is a **sensitive** action under [permission levels](/agent/permission-levels). See [Agent safety](/security/agent-safety).
