# Inbox

> The Inbox is where your agent's email conversations live, and where everything that needs a person's decision is collected.

Your organization's agent has its own email address. Forward a thread to it, or copy it in, and the agent reads the mail, files the attachments, drafts a reply and, when there is real work to do, opens a matter. The **Inbox** is where you see all of this and where you stay in control of it.

<CardGroup cols={2}>
  <Card title="The agent's address" icon="at-sign" href="/inbox/agent-email">
    Find the address, share it with your team, or put the agent on your own domain.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Approvals" icon="circle-check" href="/inbox/approvals">
    Review and send the replies the agent drafts. Choose whether it may reply automatically.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Sender rules" icon="shield" href="/inbox/sender-rules">
    Decide who may reach the agent, and what happens to everyone else.
  </Card>

  <Card title="Documents by email" icon="paperclip" href="/inbox/documents-by-email">
    A personal address for sending files straight to your own inbox.
  </Card>

## Two tabs

| Tab              | What it shows                                                                                                                                    |
| :--------------- | :----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Needs Action** | Conversations waiting for a person: a drafted reply to approve, a proposed change, a question from the agent, or a run that stopped unexpectedly |
| **All**          | Every conversation                                                                                                                               |

When nothing is waiting, **Needs Action** says *"Nothing needs your attention."* A conversation leaves the tab as soon as its pending items are approved, answered or dismissed.

<Note>
  Conversations are shared across the organization, with one exception. A conversation linked to a matter in a private project is visible only to that project's members and to organization admins.
</Note>

## Inside a conversation

A conversation shows its emails alongside a timeline of what the agent did about them. Typical entries are *Email received*, *Agent started*, *Attachments filed*, *Matter created*, *Reply proposed*, *Reply sent*, *Agent asked a question* and *Workflow completed*.

From a conversation you can:

* **Approve & send**, edit or **Dismiss** a drafted reply or forward. See [Approvals](/inbox/approvals).
* **Answer** a question so the agent can continue.
* Message the agent directly to tell it what to do next.
* **Link to matter…**, or use the **Create matter** quick action.
* **Save to project vault** or **Save to organization vault** to file attachments. Filed items show where they went.
* **Open project** to jump to the project the conversation belongs to.
* **Delete conversation**, for organization admins. This deletes the whole email conversation and the agent's work sessions for it, and cannot be undone.

The composer offers quick actions suited to email: **Draft reply**, **File attachments** and **Create matter**.

## How mail reaches the agent

<Steps>
  <Step title="Mail arrives">
    Mail is received by Casa Conect's own mail infrastructure in the EU. It is scanned for viruses and spam, and the sender's authentication (SPF, DKIM and DMARC) is evaluated before anything else happens.
  </Step>

  <Step title="The sender is checked">
    Mail from a verified member of your organization, or from a sender you have allowed, goes straight to the agent. Mail from anyone else waits for a person in **Pending approval**. Dangerous mail is dropped. See [Sender rules](/inbox/sender-rules).
  </Step>

  <Step title="The agent works">
    The agent reads the message and its attachments and acts within the limits for that kind of sender. The body of an email is always treated as information, never as instructions. See [Agent safety](/security/agent-safety).
  </Step>

  <Step title="You decide">
    Anything that would leave the building, such as a reply or a forward, is drafted for approval unless you have allowed automatic replies to known participants.
  </Step>
</Steps>

## Set up the Inbox

Organization admins configure the Inbox under **Settings → Agent inbox**: the agent's address, the reply policy, who can open threads, allowed and blocked senders, your own domain, and suppressed recipients. Other members see *"Your admins manage this inbox."*
